Us and them. Me and you. In and out. Dark and light. This world of polarities can leave us high strung, pulled in different directions, have us second-guess ourselves, and not know which direction to go. There is now more darkness to daylight. The leaves are falling. The flowers are subsiding.

“…So Eden sank to grief. So dawn goes down to day, nothing gold can stay.”
– Robert Frost

So, what are we going to do about it?

Ancient festivals marked this moment as a time of Thanksgiving. The harvest was coming in. The larder was getting filled with storage crops. With our abundance at this time of the year we could begin to relax. We needed to make peace with the fact that there was no more planting and what we produced in the garden was the extent of what could be done.

At this time, we may have seen that we had an abundance of tomatoes and onions, but perhaps we lacked peppers and cilantro. If we wanted salsa, we needed to trade some of our excess for those things we were lacking. Kindness and diplomacy were survival motivations. If we wanted to make it through the winter, if we wanted to eat salsa, we needed to trade.

Understanding and comprehending what we needed to survive through the winter was paramount at this time. We needed to make peace with the fact that the garden would soon die, and the snow would soon fly. Panic would only create more imbalance. We couldn’t force anyone to trade with us, so we needed something of value. As the night became longer than the day, we had to make peace with the darkness and the potential for death.

Nothing has changed. With this New Libra Moon Solar Eclipse, any of our ancient shadows and traumas associated with this time of year and its corresponding emotional and psychological reflections, have arisen in our awareness for healing and clearing.

What resources do we have that we can offer for others? What areas are we needing help with? Can we ask for help? With whatever shadows arise, or have arisen in our lives, how can we still do our best to maintain equilibrium amid the impending gathering darkness of Autumn?

How can we find peace, within and without?

Solar eclipses, when conjoined, the Moon’s South Node, ask us to set intentions of releasing our patterns of fear, manipulation, fake kindness, and indecision. We may become aware of old patterns which perpetuate relationship complexities. We may find such opposition between us and people we love that we may not know how to rectify it. But the time is now to learn. Here is where we make peace with that which we resist. This may be one of the more difficult times in our year. We desire peace so much that we are ready to destroy the opposition. But where will that get us? More destruction.

Like we all must do at this time of the year, we must make peace with those things which upset it. Painting the shadow a pretty color will not do. An honest, open, dispassionate conversation can be the scariest yet best place to start. Maintaining our sovereignty and personal power throughout provides clarity amidst anyone or anything opposing us. Staying in our hearts ensures the best of all possible outcomes. Loving ourselves impeccably and creating enough time and space to bring ourselves into balance and maintaining equilibrium is our best option. Bringing the breath into balance takes as little as one minute. That’s where we start. Stay on that path we can arrive at peace.

Let’s do what we can to calm ourselves when we feel the heat rising by placing our hands on our hearts and remembering to love ourselves first. Then we have plenty of love to share, that’s what the world needs now. Find your inner peace, radiate it out into your family, friends, and community, don’t give up, and all will be well.
