Answered Prayers

I recently had a day where I felt I was just emotionally beaten down and utterly defeated. In one day I'd received extremely harsh truths from multiple people in my life, both personally and professionally. As you can imagine, this was quite difficult to take until I'd had a good night's sleep. Upon waking in the morning, I realized that, in fact, I had been given an amazing gift. That gift was truth. This truth was the closure I'd sought in a romantic situation and clarification about my … [Read more...]

An Edge Life Expo Survey

My heart. Everything is from the heart - and I seek to operate from the heart. I use my heart and my gut as a way of determining where I am. I don't care how bad things are, when I have a heart feeling, I know I am okay. I don't care how good things are, when I have a gut feeling, I know something's wrong. And the stronger the feeling, I know I better deal with it right then. The trick is to know when I'm in my head. When I'm in my head, I'm running on programs that are not from me but from the … [Read more...]

Everyday Spirituality: Life as Prayer

When you turn on the television, it seems just about every talk show host is discussing how to maximize human potential and help viewers become a more advanced version of self. In our effort to reach higher, spirituality is a major interest in the books we read, the classes we take and the inner peace we want to find. … [Read more...]

The Miracle Club

There is a huge part of me that is really, truly, uneasy with writing about the subject of miracles. It's not that I'm uncomfortable discussing religion, prayers, or the subject of God. But for a child raised in a quietly Presbyterian household, miracles were the stuff of the Easter sermon or old-time religious revival tents with a laying on of hands. In my limited childhood experience, the people who threw that term around liberally were the 1-900-Sunday morning cable ministers, many of … [Read more...]

An Interview with Thomas Morton

What was the most sacred moment you have had in your life? Thomas Morton: Wow, what a question! To be very clear in answering this, I would like to say first that every moment is sacred when you live in the moment (or now). Of course if one is out of "the now," then one loses touch with "being" with "the sacredness" of that moment. If you are asking about my personal history (which I feel you are), I would have to say it was when I was shown that God was within … [Read more...]
