What Heaven Can Hear

Last December, I decided to attend a retreat in Finland, of all places. A retreat in -- say, Bermuda -- might've been preferable that time of year, especially for a Minnesotan. But the Finnish retreat would be led by Dave Oshana, a spiritual teacher I admire and respect, so I put on my heated socks, zipped up my parka and got on a plane. The retreat was held on a small island on the edge of the Baltic Sea, three hours southwest of Helsinki. Starlight reflected off snowy hills as we drove to … [Read more...]

The Dream of the Magical Theatre

Gentry

The tale of the Magical Theatre made its appearance in an extraordinary dream that at first seemed too fantastic to be real. But, the dream came with such power that I was forced to begin dismantling the belief that I was alone and somehow out of favor with God. As I explored my sense of separation with new awareness, I discovered that I could not recognize the infinite nature of my being and the deepest truth about myself until I first unequivocally accepted the omnipresence of the Divine. When … [Read more...]

Be Authentic This Holiday Season!

snow_friends

We all do it - we want others to like us and to think highly of us. We worry about what others will think if we choose a career that is unusual, or decide not to follow traditions at holiday time. We put our focus on others and their opinions. Our search for acceptance often takes us down a path of unhappiness. It could lead us to stay in a job that gives us no joy, do an activity we dislike, spend time with people who don't genuinely care about us, or even have a secret life that is only … [Read more...]

An interview with Awakening facilitator Judith Froemming

Froemming

Are what you do and say, and who you are, in alignment with your beliefs? For many of us, if we are honest with ourselves, the answer may be no. I believe that most people wish to live authentically, but many do not. I spoke with one of the most authentic people I know to get some ideas for how to try and capture some of that authenticity in your everyday life. Judith Froemming - Consciousness Coach™, Master Hypnotherapist, NLP Practitioner and Interplay Instructor - is a lovely testament … [Read more...]

The Art of Authentic Living

woman_mirror

"This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow...thou canst not then be false to any man." - William Shakespeare, from Hamlet Shakespeare summed it up perfectly. And so, for the past year I've owned it. Ex-English teacher from England (and lover of Shakespeare) that I am, I've told people eyeball to eyeball who I am and what I do. Yes, I'm a wife, a mother, I'm creative, I love to read, to write, to work out and, that's right - I'm a medium, and "therein lies the rub," for … [Read more...]

Authenticity in Every Moment

woman_hands_up

When I was in my mid-twenties, I had a dream that I was chained in a narrow causeway, hunched over, and a brother was pouring gasoline on me. He took a match and lit me on fire, while my other two brothers simply watched, condoning the experience. At that time in my life, I was being kicked to the curb, disinherited and accused of being in a cult because I attended Lake Harriet Spiritual Community. Various people stabbed me in the back, betrayed me and placed darkness where there was … [Read more...]

Fulfills Me Up

My column did not appear in last month's issue of The Edge. 'Ja miss me? Instead of writing I was busy painting and organizing furniture in my new home, the story of which appeared in the September issue as an example of Mutuality in the New Living Field. After painting the living room five times (no, not a typo) to get the color just so, I am finally free to tackle what's next. People complain about packing when contemplating a move, but preparation of the new space and unpacking are the … [Read more...]

Spiritual Hunger – Part 6

landau

Sixth of a seven-part series In this installment of the seven-part series, I will offer suggestions about how to dismantle the matrix and live a life of self-sovereignty, spiritual freedom and glory, and in part seven I will offer my interpretive insights and impressions about the theories, prophecies and predictions associated with 12/21/2012. In a previous installment, we explored how it might feel relatively easy to accept that the matrix fiercely and dutifully governs the design and … [Read more...]

The Big Bluff

A USA Today poll revealed that: 29 percent of respondents had experienced contact with a departed loved one; 18 percent had seen or been with a ghost; and 15 percent had consulted a psychic or fortune teller. Most of these numbers were somewhat higher than I had expected, yet happily so. When I taught yoga, a high school teacher invited me to talk to her class about spirituality. Once each semester I would go and discuss psychic phenomena, healing, the power of the mind and lots of juicy … [Read more...]

Truth Is What The Darkness Most Fears – Part 3

landau

"People will do anything, no matter how absurd, to avoid facing their own soul." -- Carl Jung Last of a three-part series Shortly after posting Part 1 of "Truth Is What The Darkness Most Fears," a friend, whom I consider part of my inner circle sacred counsel, asked if I was concerned that my outreach via a three-part opinion article might be viewed as opportunistic. In addition, although I've received numerous encouraging and supportive responses to Part 1, I also received two challenging … [Read more...]
