Waking to Unity

tornado

Some wake up easily while others need to be jarred out of sleep. New ways of thinking or paradigm shifts work in much the same way. Some take to them easily while others need a much more dramatic event to awaken them to a new idea. The idea of Unity isn't new or New Age. Since the beginning of recorded history, there have been people awake, aware and speaking this truth. The messengers have come from all parts of the world, in every century -- and while some have been revered, many have died … [Read more...]

A Hugging Meditation

man_tree

After the events this week in the Middle East, I have been feeling a deep sense of sorrow. I had many discussions both with people who were celebrating and with people, like me, who just felt sad at the state of the world. I keep thinking we all need to do better than this. Today I realized that I was on the verge of tears for no apparent reason. It had been coming and going for quite some time, but today on the drive home I found them welling up in me. I had the radio on in the car and a … [Read more...]

Ground me Plant me Give me a seat behind my eyes Make my vision wide and far reaching Make my feet firm with a good solid grip Let me be ferocious in my silence and still in my movements Arms stretched wide to embrace myself … [Read more...]

The Ghost and the Gloves

One of the services I offer in my healing practice is what I call a House Warming. I go to the homes of people and clear the energy using herbs, drumming and chants. People ask for this when they have moved into a new space or to clear negative energies from their current space. One of my friends contacted me to come and clear the energy in her parents' home. Her father had died recently in the home (her mother passed a few years before) and she and her sisters were trying to get the house … [Read more...]

Love yourself enough to change

woman_enjoying

The question you need to ask yourself as you wonder, “Is it worth it to exercise, eat healthy and work on your relationships?” is “Do I love myself enough to make the changes necessary to feel better and have a better life?” The key to self-care is just that, care about yourself. Not just care, but love yourself! A lot! Love yourself enough to make changes if they are needed. Love yourself enough to let go of what isn’t working for you, whether it is your diet, relationship or job. … [Read more...]

Take the time to be with nature

nature_bird

I have always been an animal person, much to my mother's dismay. I brought home salamanders, birds, cats, bugs and snakes. Pretty much any critter that would allow me to pick it up, I brought home. I had a gift for it really. At one time in our home we had a cat, a rabbit, a guinea pig, sea monkeys and a clam. They were all mine. Fast forward to the '80s when I was working in a metaphysical book store. It's no surprise that Native American spirituality, with its deep connection to nature and … [Read more...]

Make Changes to Make Changes

I had been struggling with a virus for weeks. I'd taken all the natural remedies, did my meditation and release work and still it is pestering me. I am feeling drained and unwell. I felt like I was missing something in my healing process, so I checked in and got the message that I needed to clean my house. Huh? It's not really what I wanted to hear when I was having a hard time just staying awake! But I could see the wisdom of it. I know that when my home is in disarray, I feel on edge and … [Read more...]

The Cost of Fear

sadness

I had an experience recently with one of my cats that got me thinking about fear. She had a lump in her mammary gland that the vet said was cancer. We scheduled a surgery to have it removed a week-and-a-half from the original vet visit. As soon as we got home, I did research on what nutritional, homeopathic and energetic healing methods would best help her. I implemented several of them and in a week the tumor had shrunk by half. So I was faced with a decision: continue with the holistic … [Read more...]

Aging and Decline

"Of all the self-fulfilling prophecies in our culture, the assumption that aging means a decline and poor health is probably the deadliest." - Aquarian Conspiracy I complained to a friend of mine about my aching back the other day and she joked that we were just getting old. I had a strong reaction to that statement. Not because I am one of those people who is afraid or upset about my age, but because I don't think my body "falling apart" has to happen just because I am older. Most people … [Read more...]
