Animals say the Darndest Things

"Share the funniest experience you've had with your pet." When I read The Edge's theme for this month, it caused some writer's block. As a long-time animal lover turned professional animal communicator, I have had many "funny" experiences with animals. Unfortunately, none of them were such elaborate tales that would warrant creation of a full-length article. Then the brilliant thought came: Why not take some of the funny "one-liners" that animals come up with during animal communication sessions … [Read more...]

Beau’s Image Honors a Sister’s Love

Lori Swanson: sister, artist, pet lover

We didn't even know my sister Lori was sick, much less that she would die suddenly. She died suddenly of a pulmonary embolism, sitting in her living room chair, twenty-four days after 9/11. My family is extremely close and we were planning a fall color train excursion in Wisconsin to celebrate my birthday, which had taken … [Read more...]

Adding to the Dog Pack: Karmic Destiny

I had always looked at people with three dogs (or more) and thought they were nuts! Especially if they had three large dogs! "Too much commotion, one more dog than I have hands, not enough attention for each one...." On and on and on.Alas, one of the downfalls of being a professional animal communicator is that you are able to clearly hear what your animals are telling you. And my two Golden Retriever gal pals were clearly telling me one night, "There's another dog out there for … [Read more...]

Health, Wellness, and Life Tips from the Animals Themselves

As a professional animal communicator, I am privy to a plethora of information, opinions, complaints, musings and commentaries from a wide variety of animal companions including dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, birds, fish, iguanas, hedgehogs, chinchillas, etc. You get the picture! Interestingly enough I have found the animals themselves to be the best providers of information concerning their needs, both physical and emotional. Therefore, I have chosen to interview some of my animal clients and … [Read more...]

One Dog’s Roadmap to Her Forever Home

I was sitting in the kitchen minding my own business when out of the blue I heard my dog address me. The message was clear and concise: "My companion is ready. She's a puppy mill dog. Go find her." I knew exactly what my Golden Retriever Zalee meant, because she herself was a puppy mill rescue. I had found her on the Golden Retriever rescue website a year before. When she directed me to "Go find her," I knew it meant I should look for her new companion on that same web … [Read more...]
