August re-teaches us the Truth about Namasté

brainard

Don't buy into the fear programming, which continues to be intense this month! August begins with Mars, Venus and Saturn in Libra, ratcheting up the energy of the Cardinal T-Square that made late June and July so intense. We are being asked (commanded?) to relearn everything we thought we knew about relationships and find the truth expressed in the Hindu expression, namasté ("The light in me sees the light in you.") and the Mayan In Lak'ech ("I am another you."). Mercury retrogrades in Virgo in … [Read more...]

Grace would serve you tea

cohen

While visiting Japan I had a breakfast meeting with my Japanese sponsor at a resort hotel. Sitting in a corner of the dining room, our meeting went on beyond the time breakfast was served, and the staff was cleaning the dining room tables. I felt bad about occupying a table during the cleaning period, but no one said anything, so my sponsor and I continued. Our meeting went on into the time that the lunch buffet opened, and I thought for sure we should leave, since the buffet was expensive … [Read more...]

Why Do We Dream?

jacobson

Question: What are dreams and why do we dream? Answer: Dreams falls into three categories. The first category is a meaningless dream. Just like many of your thoughts during the day are random and meaningless, it is the same with this kind of dream. The more silent your mind during the day, the less this kind of dream will occur during sleep. The second category of dream is more meaningful. Dreaming often gives us the opportunity to experience and release feelings like fear, anger, hurt and … [Read more...]

So Long, Hello

lafontaine

July was an interesting month for me to take a break from writing this column. I found it fascinating to see how swiftly reality is shifting, and I realized how important it is to stay focused on what is coming into creation rather than what is going away. Mainstream media, in all its forms, uses drama and fear to present almost anything. It is easy to be emotionally drawn into observing an event, deciding what the outcome should be, and concluding who is right and who is wrong. The process of … [Read more...]

Emotions: Energy in Motion

landau

QUESTION:  What part do emotions play in our spiritual development? ANSWER: At the heart of this paradigm shift is spiritual adulthood and freedom. There are four passkeys to crossing the spiritual adulthood threshold: personal authenticity, self-examination, separating belief from truth, and integration. E-motions are the centerpiece of these two passkeys. However, many of us are afraid, ashamed and anxious about the exploration, acknowledgment and expression of certain e-motions. Most of … [Read more...]

The spiritual journey includes everyone, without exception

woman_walk

We have come to call who we are a holistic community. We are people who see the bigger picture, collectively and individually. We inherently know there is an interrelated web that connects everything, and we acknowledge it in the life choices we make. We are healers and therapists, teachers and spiritual guides, artists and shamans, and men and women who lead otherwise normal lives while instinctively recognizing that we are all part of the whole. We always were and will always be. Sometimes … [Read more...]

Selective memory

reiter

Over time, memories shift and change. Memories become more favorable than the original experience unless we have an appetite for misery. Most people will gravitate toward happier, more positive memories. And this seems to suit human beings quite well. What we receive as information is passed down over time, through many people who have biased and selective memories that serve their purpose or agenda. Take, for example, American history. What incident in 20th century American history has been … [Read more...]

Becoming Habitually Present

sciandra

I want to be more present. I really do, but I find myself slipping into states of mindlessness more often than I'm comfortable with. I, of course, have no idea that I am checked out until something occurs to snap me back, and I realize that "Elvis has left the building" (as I have dubbed it). I have explored the virtues of mindfulness many times in my writing, so you know that it is something I place great importance on, so these occurrences are a regular wake-up call to me of how far I have … [Read more...]

Do You Play the Rearranging Game?

shehata

I have this game that I accidentally play sometimes when I am cleaning my house. It goes a little something like this: Take an item out of this room and put it in this room. Take this other item and put it over here. Take these papers and recycle part of them, but then put the rest of them back in this other pile. By the time I am done with this riveting little cleaning game, the house is a little cleaner and I feel accomplished. After all, I have successfully rearranged my stuff from one … [Read more...]

The Eightfold Path: Aid on the Spiritual Journey – Part 5

stanton

Since being reintroduced to the eightfold path, I find that I have been practicing some of its elements without realizing it. This is the fifth of six columns devoted to exploring their value in today's world. Isvara Pranidhana (surrender to God) - I've seen it translated "dedication to God" or dedicating one's actions to God. This is a big virtue in Christianity, too. A great line I found on beliefnet.com is: "By holding onto that which in any case is forever slipping through our fingers, we … [Read more...]
