July’s Solar Eclipse: A Turning Point

brainard

The solar eclipse in Cancer on July 11 marks a turning point after the incredible energy of June. Although the pace of change (personal and global) continues to be incredibly intense, the Cancer eclipse leaves us with a better idea of where we stand and what we need to do next. Let's use the second half of the month to ground our spiritual energy in the Earth experience. Mother Nature wants to help, but we have to make time and create mental space to tune in and listen. Cancer (June 21-July … [Read more...]

I Love You As You Are

At a small group seminar, Donna reported that she had just come from seeing a healer who told her about several physical issues she needed to address. Her chakras, the healer explained, were out of balance and her body was filled with parasites. This report led to a lengthy discussion among the seminar participants, including lots of advice for Donna about how to regain her health. Donna was also dealing with a weight issue, which elicited plenty of  recommendations from the group. As I … [Read more...]

Certifying Psychics

harwig

Someone asked me recently if I was "certified" to be a psychic. I was slightly stunned for a moment at the question. My first reaction (as is usual for me) was to make a joke. I said, "Certifying psychics is similar to licensing cats." But then I realized that they do license cats nowadays and that she meant it to be a serious question. Her point was that the process of certifying and/or licensing psychics might prevent the abuses that occur. It is a very valid question. There certainly are … [Read more...]

Question: How can I know God? I want desperately to believe in God! Answer: From my perspective, belief in God is an obstacle to knowing God. When we believe in God, we create God in our image, and all we are creating is an illusion to make us feel safer. Belief is a function of the mind and we can only know God through direct experience. So how does one have a direct experience of God? God is here now, but we are not! Mostly we are lost in the world of the mind. It is a world of the … [Read more...]

The Mind’s Eye: Making Friends with Death

just

Welcome to my first column in The Edge. Thanks to all who have read previous articles and sent me notes or spoken to me in person. I appreciate your appreciation and I appreciate you too. So, it's with a certain degree of delicious irony that I'm celebrating a beginning by talking about endings. I have always been intrigued by death. Even as a child, I would imagine what it was like to die in particular ways - a car speeding into a brick wall. Death by electrocution. Nuclear war. Nuclear war … [Read more...]

Spiritual Q & A

Question: There are a lot of prophecies being explored and discussed in different spiritual circles, particularly as 2012 approaches. Are prophecies more or less certain to occur? Answer: The time to consider prophecy is most certainly at hand. However, just as there are distortions of truth currently being perpetuated in many secular and spiritual belief systems, these distortions can most certainly be found in various prophetic texts. Indeed, some of the texts that prophesise catastrophes, … [Read more...]

Are we open to off-planet assistance in our evolution?

miejan

At the core of every one of us is the soul, the eternal foundation of who we truly are, an aspect of our being that survives physical death and moves on to continue its journey in the afterlife, no longer constrained by such a fragile container as the human body. Many agree that the soul is not of this earthly dimension, but of some realm beyond our knowing. Metaphysical. Beyond the physical. It is easy for me to conclude that human beings are multi-dimensional, operating here on earth with … [Read more...]

Stepping Out

reiter

We create our reality through our conscious and subconscious thoughts. There are times when many of us live in blame, fear and doubt, uncertain how to change our realities and our lives. What we are doing as a society is avoiding our internal discomfort, unhappiness, dissatisfaction and procrastination and attempting to replace it with external comforts (see Contingency, June 2010). We buy expensive wardrobes, cars and houses. We move at a rapid pace, multitasking and choosing to be continually … [Read more...]

Life now, and in transition

We live in a world that lives by the rule of impermanence and I find myself fascinated by it. It is that fascination of those things we both fear and awe. For example, I am unreasonably bothered by the idea that our sun will burn out to the point where it will no longer be able sustain life on earth in about a half a billion years (for perspective, about 2,500 times the amount of time that humans have been on earth), and yet I am also completely fascinated by the ephemeral nature of things. I am … [Read more...]

You and your relationship with your home

Having a home is like dating. I realized that recently while working with a new client. They have a beautiful high-end condominium that is well furnished and sits nestled on a lake. And yet, they find themselves a little "uninterested" in their home. It doesn't feel quite right. I assessed the usual culprits. We looked at the floor plan, the external and internal elements, and the layout of furniture. We discussed their lives, their goals, their occupations and their previous homes. There … [Read more...]
