What is Within?

zedek

We hear the word "within" used a lot to describe an experience that we should be having but, what does it really mean and, for that matter, where exactly is it? Obviously, the body is made up many things -- skin, cells, bones, blood, organs, etc. Then you have the brain, an even more complex operating system of bio-electrical pathways, tissue, muscle, etc. And we are supposedly somewhere in here or around here. In most cases "within" refers to the experiential essence. So, what is that? Is … [Read more...]

What would Love Say?

candle

Each month, this column features a "Message from Love" with an action step and meditation. Each message gives examples of what Love might say and do in various circumstances. So, whenever you find yourself feeling scared, angry or uncomfortable, instead of letting fear have its way, practice asking yourself: What would Love Say? "You find peace not by rearranging the circumstances of your life, but by realizing who you are at the deepest level." -- Eckhart Tolle What would Love do? Go … [Read more...]

Begin with a Full Breath

Is there stress in your life? To paraphrase Zorba the Greek, "Life is stress. Only death is not. To be alive is to open the door and look for stress!" But the idea is valid. Stress is the signal that we have opportunities to grow or that we need to make changes in our lives. You've heard in all kinds of media and, possibly, from your doctor, that stress is bad for your health, as well. True enough. So how can we make use of the lessons and opportunities stress points out to us and minimize … [Read more...]

A Review: The Blind Side

simon

Remember what it was like to go to a movie and cry and laugh and applaud and feel great about just being alive when you walk out of the theater? I do. And you will too when you run as fast as you can to a neighborhood theater to see The Blind Side, one of the most touching, wondrous, uplifting and miraculous movies of the last several years. And, what makes the experience even more delicious is that the film is based on a true story. Michael Oher was a homeless teenager in Memphis, TN. His … [Read more...]

Caring for others need not be a stranglehold

They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and I believe it. In fact, I'm pretty sure that I have earned my own hard hat and orange safety vest. Many sensitive, lovely people are genuinely committed in their hearts to making the world a better place. Unfortunately, this noblest of goals can set up them up for a nasty trap. The messes that can be made by stepping in to resolve a problem are often far greater than might result from being hands-off. The drive to care for others … [Read more...]

Shattering Belief Systems

Today, there are opportunities to investigate our patterns of sabotage, our thinking and our mindset. We can deeply explore our relationships -- to ourselves, to others, to the universe and to prosperity. We can observe how and why we create drama and chaos in our lives and why it's necessary to release certain people and situations to find peace. But how often do we take time to examine our beliefs -- how and why we've brought them into our lives and why it's necessary to release them, as … [Read more...]

Responsibility in this age of transformation

I see a nation of hurting people. Husbands and wives not talking to each other as they struggle to pay the bills each month. Military men and women killing themselves at rates never seen before. College graduates unable to find work, and high school graduates not able to afford college or find work. ¶ Our first impulse is to blame somebody. Our second impulse is to forget that all of this is happening and turn on the TV. My impulse is to think about the minority without a voice -- the … [Read more...]

The Light Collective: You create with your thoughts

waterfall

This is the fourth in a series of eight articles based on The Eight Principles of Inner Peace as channeled by the Light Collective through renowned intuitive Kathryn Harwig. These principles are simple, yet profound, and they apply to all beings in the cosmos. The essence of all eight principles is inner peace, and personal empowerment -- the powerful ability of humans to create the world of their choosing. The Light Collective explains: "The next four principles are all related -- of course, … [Read more...]

Reincarnation Bank

gibraltar

This is what the website reads: "Reincarnation Bank offers a safe-keeping for any asset you wish to deposit through your transition into the next life." Reportedly when you are reincarnated, you will sense a desire for hypnotic regression to retrieve the password from this lifetime that opens up your account in the Reincarnation Bank. I'm not buying this. Neither should you. I hold out hope that this doesn't actually exist, but it appears to. Terms and Conditions state that all disputes shall … [Read more...]

2010, Oh Mama

A decade ago we were concerned about Y2K and the end of the world as we knew it. Perhaps we were right about the outcome, even though Y2K itself turned out to be a minor event for most people. Still, that possibility of radical change did ignite an awareness of our global interconnectedness and the possibility that our lives could experience significant shift in a short period of time. However, instead of a global meltdown at that time, we actually experienced 24 hours of collective joy. Do … [Read more...]
