A unique approach to heal anxiety and depression

hypnosis

When we put the feelings of anxiety or depression under the microscope of hypnosis, we see that these intense, unwanted feelings are actually made up of subtle, fearful thoughts, such as "I'm not wanted," "I'm not safe," "I'm all alone" - thoughts that began somewhere in a past event or circumstance. As life moves forward, we naturally resist looking at these painful mental and emotional wounds. It feels better to avoid them, so we do what we can to bury them or push them aside. Chemicals and … [Read more...]

Hypnosis: Minding your Body, Embodying Mind

hypnosis

Healing is an automatic function of the body and mind. During the past 24 years of providing hypnotherapy and alternative methods of healing, I have had a wonderful opportunity to explore the realms of hypnosis and the tools of the mind. One of the most profound and life-changing experiences I've had was while developing my Natural Birth Hypnosis Center. I created a program that put the principles of mind-body communication on the line by teaching couples how to have a natural birth, free … [Read more...]

A personal experience

hypnosis

I've worked for a local publishing company for going on 20 years now. It has been a fun and rewarding career and I've especially enjoyed the relationships that I've built. However, at the end of 2006, circumstances beyond my control, mostly in my business life, pushed my stress level to full-tilt. I was having panic attacks and I even developed a dizzying vertigo-like condition. On the surface, I appeared to be holding it all together, but underneath was a caldron of turmoil. I ended up … [Read more...]

Hypnosis and the Effect of Emotions

hypnosis

Emotions play a large role in our lives and often govern our actions and reactions. As a general rule, humans prefer to feel good and do things that help them feel that way. When we become frustrated because we are not feeling good, we turn to activities that distract our minds from those less than optimal feelings. For example, I feel sad that my dog died and look to find something that will make me feel better. Well, I feel good when I go shopping, so I go shopping and spend some money. For … [Read more...]

Kriya Yoga for Trance and Transformation

hypnosis

Hypnosis is a mental state defined by slowed brain waves and focused attention with diminished peripheral awareness. The intense and yet relaxed focus brought about by hypnosis serves the purpose of fading the logical mind and opening the door to the subconscious. Since more than 70 percent of our daily behavior is controlled by the subconscious mind, opening the subconscious portal is key to self-transformation and elimination of otherwise unconscious negative beliefs and behaviors. Many … [Read more...]

I recently read in a Pittsburgh Tribune online article about 8-year-old James Leininger, who has been reliving memories of a past life: that of Lt. James McCready Huston, a World War II fighter pilot from Uniontown who was killed near Iwo Jima more than 50 years before James was born. Maybe many of you have heard this story by now, as his story is documented in the book Soul Survivor: The Reincarnation of a World War II Fighter Pilot (2009, Grand Central Publishing). James experienced … [Read more...]

Hypnosis – A Safe Place

hypnosis

Earlier today I got a phone call from a friend who is studying hypnosis. Her first class was Saturday. One of the exercises they did was to create a safe place for themselves. Just this morning as I was lying in bed thinking about the day ahead, I was thinking how much I needed a safe place. As we discussed the need for a safe place, my friend told me how important it was as a child to have a safe place. She said that was a big part of her hypnosis lesson, learning to help clients find their … [Read more...]

Remember a few months back, when Tim, editor of The Edge, ended his column by encouraging us all to do our part in bringing our best healing intentions to others? Sedona Tragedy: The Program & Online Opinions

“In Spiritual Warrior, you’ll build upon what you started in Practical Mysticism. You’ll become privy to techniques (many kept secret for dozens of generations) that I searched out in the mountains of Peru, the jungles of the Amazon (and a few other places I don’t care to recall). Mastering these (quite esoteric) practices required me to think and act more differently than I’ve ever had to before. At first it was quite grueling, but the results…well…all I can say is, “Wow!” … [Read more...]
